General News (Old)

Message Update:  Saturday, June 23, 2012

... wow. 76 days without an update. Man, I'm slacking. So much so, that I've got MASSIVE amounts of news to cover now. We'll start with the video game news before I move on to the really big news.

First off, DC Universe Online. While I haven't been playing it much lately, I do have 9 character slots to work with all filled and raring to go for those who want to play with me. I'd post information, but this post is going to be long enough as is. Perhaps I'll get the information up upon next update, when I don't have much in the way of news.

Next, Tales of Graces F. I'm still playing this as I've still got stuff to unlock. No. Seriously. There's A LOT to do in this game. While I'm at it, I should mention the same of Dragon's Dogma. They keep adding new quests for each and every New Game + I make. Blarg, it's my third run through. And may very well be my last for awhile... at least until they finally add a bunch of new content. Finally, for Dragon's Dogma, if you see a pawn by the name "Pearl" while playing the X-box version of the game, it's most likely my pawn. Have fun using her.

Next is something revealed at this year's actually kinda boring E3. Gears of War: Judgement. Being a Gears of War fan, I'm looking forward to what they're doing with this. Here's some videos.
Reveal Trailer
New Multiplayer Stuff!

Project X Zone is another game I'm really looking forward too, but so far, there's no confirmation that it'll be coming over to the USA. Meaning it's very likely going to be another one of those "No Export for you" games. :(

Fire Emblem Awakening however DOES have an official USA release date... sort of. We have to wait until 2013 for that game. For those who don't know, Fire Emblem Awakening will be the first ever CROSS OVER Fire Emblem game. What this means is that various Fire Emblem characters from ALL the previous Fire Emblem games will be in. (I doubt all, but at least a small handful from the past games will appear) Don't believe me? Micaiah from Radiant Dawn has a new look she'd like to show you. Marth and Roy will also be appearing in the game, the same two that first appeared in SSBM in the USA. Ike will also be present in the game. God, it's like Fire Emblem fanboy heaven. Wait! I'm not quite done yet. Did I mention that YOU yourself are involved in the game? Yes! I said it and I meant it! Remember Fire Emblem 7? The game with Lyn, Eliwood, and Hector? In that game, you could actually create yourself as the commander of the army. But... that was all your guy did in that game. Here in Fire Emblem Awakening, it returns in full force, with MANY upgrades. Now, instead of just sitting on the sidelines giving commands, YOUR created character will also be on the battlefield, fighting the enemies! ... ... oh, and that also means you can die. Finally, before moving on, your character's gender actually does make a difference in what support conversations you can have with the other characters. You can get the main starting character "Krom" if your created character is a female. Speaking of, your character can literally get anyone on the playable character list, so long as your character is of the opposite gender of the character in question. Yes, your created character is a chick/dude magnet, your gender deciding which sex you'll attract.

And finally, while it's actually movie related, there's a new upcoming movie for November that I REALLY want to see. ... ... look, before I start talking about it, just watch the trailer first.

Wreck it Ralph

... am I seeing things? A Disney movie about videogames in general!? *Commence squee moment* I... AM... HYPED! I've never been hyped for a movie before, but this movie has my interest. Even more so than the Avengers movie, and I LOVED that movie. To put it in as short of a way as possible, "Wreck it Ralph", to me, is basically the website "Battle of the Videogame Heroes" in glorified movie format! *Commence squee moment again* I've heard people comparing it to "Roger Rabbit" as well, which makes sense considering what "Roger Rabbit" was about. (For those who don't know what Roger Rabbit was about, look it up online yourself) There's plenty of forums raving about it right now, including Capcom Unity, which I happen to frequent. Speaking of Capcom, some Capcom characters are confirmed already, including Chun-Li from Street Fighter. (Not seen in the trailer, but picture proof showed up revealing her in one scene from the movie) Seeing as how it's a movie about videogames in general, the number of cameos and scenes they could make via having access to every series is almost numberless. Master Chief with Samus in the same scene? Very possible indeed. How about Bowser with Ganondorf? I could go on about this, but I'll stop for now.

And... actually, that didn't take as long as I thought it would. But now... for the BIG news... ... I'm headed off to College finally. Starting August, my classes begin. Here's to hoping I can manage those classes and work at the same time. I'm stuck in programming classes, since that's about the only classes I really want to get into at the Anoka Technical College. There's no classes in fine arts over there, so I guess I'll have to pick up some other means of really learning how to draw. Maybe I should just buy a stylus for my computer and start... drawing. Maybe get some tips from popular animators around Newsgrounds, DeviantArt, and such.

Finally, as part of the big news, I want to take the time to talk about Mystic Legends, and how things have evolved over the past 9 years. (Almost 10 now) Yes, ladies and gentlemen. This series/comic has been around for about 9 years now, and over that period of time, I've learned A LOT. Like what you should and shouldn't do in a comic. But there's more to it then that. Just from being a maker of a sprite comic, I've also learned a lot about how the internet itself functions. I'm not going to lie. One of the biggest reasons why I've never bothered to advertise my series a lot is because of how fickle the internet is in general. Seriously, there are trolls everywhere. And all it takes is a few rotten apples to to make a series go rotten, (In terms of the fanbase) as many OFFICIAL series have proven. (Megaman, My Little Pony, etc) Granted, I already knew for fact that I wouldn't be able to please everyone, but the time I spent at ATLF has taught me that, like I said already, a few rotten apples is all it takes to set an entire forum in flames. Even if you barely say anything, and even if you do everything you can to remain calm, it doesn't change the fact that humanity is a very fickle, chaotic species. In other words, no matter what I do, no matter how much better I get at making my comic, there'll ALWAYS be critics thinking I'm doing everything wrong. (Just look at how much abuse Capcom has been taking lately if you need an example) Now, I'm not saying I'm flat out ignoring the people who think I need to improve here and there, because... you never know. Perhaps the said person is right. So I read anyway, even if it's something I'm probably not going to enjoy reading. From there though, I have the power to determine if what the person said is right, or if I should flat out ignore him/her. Balancing the two choices isn't easy either, as we all have our own opinions on what's correct and what isn't. The only time I ever start ignoring someone is when all they ever do is complain about every tiny little thing I do. (See ATLF for examples. Hell, they created an imageboard, a place of which I never dropped a single comment on) In short, I just don't consider myself good enough to be... getting out there you know? Maybe it's just my crippling low self-esteem talking, but I don't think I should ever try to set foot into the big world of artists. I don't see myself surviving out there in my current state.

One of the sad facts I've discovered about being a comic artist, no matter what you do for making a comic, is that in order to survive, you HAVE to be a bit of a jerk. I'm not talking about lashing out at people either. I mean as in denying requests, either by telling the person or flat out ignoring them. I... I've noticed I've been doing that lately myself. I'm always looking for ways to improve, but that doesn't mean I'm going to bend to every single request/complaint that comes my way either. I believe someone at DeviantArt even once said something along these lines: "Listening to the people is a good way to improve yourself. But if you listen to them TOO much, and your work ultimately becomes something you never originally invisioned in the first place, then stop listening to them." What that generally means is that you can't allow the viewing audience to take control of your work. After all, it's YOUR comic/flash. If you're no longer building your work from your own heart, then where's the pleasure that YOU get out of it? (And I speak in terms of your drawings and comic construction being a hobby. If it's your JOB, then that's a different story altogether)

Long story short, being an artist/programmer really sucks actually. Not so much in the fact that it takes time out of your day to make something, but because of the viewing audience, and how often they clash against you and each other over how things in your series should proceed. Something about this humanity chaos really... depresses's me, to say the least. Alas... there's nothing I can do about it though. Trolls will forever haunt the internet. For some trolls, it's like they actually try to make a living out of it. I can see why SOPA and ACTA tried stepping in to do something about it, but they were taking things too far, even for my tastes. I guess I just have to suck it up and keep working on the comic, because there really is no way to please everyone.

In quote to Bill Cosby: "I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody."

Message Update:  Sunday, April 8, 2012

I'm not going to lie. I've been suffering from "Writer's Block" for awhile here. I'm having trouble finding the inspiration to keep going. This has happened to me twice earlier, and both times, I recovered. I should recover again in time, but for now, I'm trying to get back that inspiration I had back then for this comic.

There's also other matters. First off, I got several new games, which have added to my list of distractions. First game I got was "Tales of Graces f". It's been a long time since a new "Tales of" game came over here, so I'm playing the heck out of it! Also, Tales of Xilla is now being rumored to be coming over as well. Two "Tales of" games in one year? What a nice gift for us "Tales of" fans.

Next, I got Kid Icarus: Uprising for the 3DS. I've been having loads of fun on this game, though I haven't gotten very far yet. I did however get far enough to battle against Dark Pit. ... ... Yes... Remember that black/dark skin Pit had in Super Smash Bros Brawl? It's now a separate character. Adding to Dark Link, Dark Samus, and Dark Meta Knight, we now have Dark Pit. Nintendo seems to be a fan of making dark halfs to our favorite Nintendo heroes. Dark Pit is like Dark Link, in which he fights just like you. (Including dodging around your shots and shooting counter shots at you) What's really interesting about Dark Pit though is that compared to the earlier Dark character incarnations, Dark Pit actually... no what... That would be dropping spoilers. Game is still pretty new, so I won't do that.

Next, I got DC Universe Online. Since it has been "Free to play" for quite some time, I downloaded the game and tried it out. You start off under "Free" membership though, so you're rather limited in what you can do. (Including only having two character slots) But upon upgrading to Premium Membership (Spend $5 or more on the game), those character slots shoot up to 6, and you get a few other goodies. The game however is at it's best when you sign up for Legendary Membership, which requires a monthly fee. (Or yearly, depending on how you want to spend it) I don't know about you, but I've been fine with just a Premium Membership. Don't really see any reason to upgrade to Legendary... yet. Anyway, just to deliver some pics...

TruebladeNuke in Gotham
TruebladeNuke in Metropolis

The Metropolis pic was taken when I like... was only starting out in the game. Just look up the name "TruebladeNuke", and you'll find me in the game. (If you're playing the US servers)

Finally, I got a Wii exclusive game called "Xenoblade Chronicles". I heard that this game was getting a very limited release over here in the USA. (Gamestop exclusive I might add) When I learned of this, I decided to quick get it before the game vanishes. And true enough, I can't find the game anywhere else. Not even on Amazon. (Except by other people who bought the game) People at Capcom Unity informed me that if you really like RPG's, you should get this game before it vanishes. I'm usually not much for branching out to games/series I've never heard of before these days, but I'm REALLY GLAD I got this game. It's... REALLY... GOOD! The only thing that sucks is that the Wii can't make this game look REALLY beautiful, but meh.

... and there you have it. It'll probably be a long time before the next episode update, FYI.

New comic update. Yep. Also, who here is excited for Borderlands 2!? Let me hear it!

... ahem... anyway, speaking of new games, Tales of Graces F is now just a little over a week off from being released now. Come next Tuesday, it finally arrives! That said, Japan already had it since 2009, and they now already have Tales of Xilla out over there as well. There's a lot of talk going around that the sales of Tales of Graces F will highly impact the chances of Tales of Xilla being transported over here as well. So BUY TALES OF GRACES F! Let them know that, YES, we want Tales of games over here! Bring Tales of Xilla please!

Message Update:  Sunday, Febuary 26, 2012

Whoa! Three weeks without an update! I say three because there was actually another new comic update 3 weeks ago, in case you guys didn't notice. I didn't update the main news section that day because I really didn't have much to talk about. But boy, I've got A LOT to talk about today. So lets get started. First off, new comic update. But don't go reading it yet! Here's the rest of the news.

March is now just around the corner. I'm really looking forward to Kid Icarus: Uprising and Tales of Graces F now. They're so close! I'm also hoping that the sales of Tales of Graces F will affect the chances of Tales of Xilla coming over here. I really want that game too. It's been... quite some time since we got a new Tales of game to work with.

Secondly, there's a lot of buzz going on about Darkstalkers now. Understandable, since Darkstalkers 3, which is considered the best title of the series and is also the last one to be made before they started appearing in cross overs, is now getting re-released on the PSN. People are hoping that this means something for the series, including myself. Street Fighter was practically brought back by re-releases and fan demand. The same somewhat holds true for Marvel VS Capcom, with the release of MvC3 after 10 years. Are they now possibly making a push to actually resurrect Darkstalkers with a NEW title after this re-release? Lets hope so. It's been a LONG time since these guys got a new title update.

Next up is Rusty Hearts. Oh man... I've stuck playing this game for quite some time, AND I'M still not done! The main story is practically taking forever to finish. I've mentioned the game in an earlier news post, even linking to the game itself. If you ARE going to pick up and play the game, I have a strong recommendation for you:

Get a game controller for your PC, like a wired X-Box 360 controller.

Even the game developers themselves mentioned that with the way the game is designed, Rusty Hearts is at its best if you have a game controller to work with. Easier access to your combos and all. You CAN play the game with a keyboard, but that isn't recommended. Also, if you do get the game, I've got some character pictures you can look at for if you're really interested in finding me:

SkySword: West Server

TruebladeNuke (Sword Focus): West Server

Actually, you can find all of my characters on the west server. On a side note, I think I may be the only Frantz who's running around in White Magician clothes on the west server. All the other Frantzs I see are in dark colors.

... now you may go enjoy the latest episode. :P

NEWS EDIT: I forgot to mention that Super Smash Bros 4 has been announced to now officially be in development. The moment this got announced, the internet pretty much exploded, and character speculations begin anew. What characters do YOU want to see in Super Smash Bros 4? Personally, I still think Lyn (Fire Emblem) deserves to be a playable character.

Message Update:  Sunday, January 15, 2012

Whoops! Been awhile since we had a new update. Anyway, I've got nothing special to say today except one thing. How many of you here play Rusty Hearts? If any of you are on the west server, I'll totally be there!

Look up the name "TruebladeNuke", and you'll find me.

Message Update:  Saturday, December 31, 2011

New episode update for today for New Years Eve. Also, stick around for the 12:00 AM release of the New Year episode itself. Yep, I'm going to be pulling that off. Cause I just want to celebrate the New Year the moment it arrives tonight m'kay?

Also, I feel the need to point out Mario's Castle Collab 2. It got release not all that long ago. WATCH IT! NOW! You'll LOVE the final scene.

Bah, I've still got a bit of a wait on me for Tales of Graces F though. Won't be out until March 2012.

Message Update:  Friday, December 23, 2011

AHH! Over a month since the last update! ... hey, I warned you guys about the lack of updates didn't I? Well, I'm now back on track for a bit here. I've got a new episode up today, and I'll hopefully have a Christmas special episode up that I've been planning for quite some time. And then maybe a new episode on New Years. We'll see about the last one though.

I've been having too much fun on Skyrim lately. I got in my new custom built computer not all that long ago, and it is MUCH faster than my previous one. Having an Intel 7 really helps with that.

Finally, how's everyone doing on the new "Heroes & Heralds" mode for everyone who has UMvC3? What faction are you playing for? Are you fighting for justice? Or are you attacking the earth? If you ask me, Heroes & Heralds mode reminds me of Planetside actually. In online play, you get multiple people assigned to each team, and then those said teams duke it out constantly for total control of a region. That said, every character on the roster now has a "Herald" color to them. Felicia... looks a bit funky under the Herald color scheme. Two picture references below to compare, with the left picture being her original appearance, and the right picture being her when she's serving Galactus:

As I said earlier, personally, she looks kind of funky when serving Galactus if you ask me. That, and it doesn't make sense either. She doesn't want to hurt anyone, and so she really wouldn't care about having cosmic power.

Message Update:  Sunday, November 13, 2011

As the quip to my latest episode says, this may very well be the last episode update for awhile now. I figured I'd get in one more episode before the game craze and possible college craze begin. Seriously, come this Tuesday, Assassin's Creed Revelations, Saints Row: The Third, AND Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 all come out at once. To top it off, Skyrim is already out. So as soon as you're finished reading the latest comic update... get off your chair, go pick up a copy of Skyrim, and start playing it. It's awesome dude!

Message Update:  Monday, November 7, 2011

Whoa! A little over 3 weeks since the last update! I'm LATE! I'M LATE! And that's especially true for the first bit of news. The UMvC3 news.

By now, you guys have likely already seen them, and I have too. But for those who haven't, the last four characters have been revealed. The first two to be revealed for this news were:

Phoenix Wright (A LOT of people were waiting for this guy)

And some gameplay videos. Gameplay 1. Gameplay 2.

And then the last two to be revealed, since the game is so close to the release date now...

Rocket Raccoon (That small size of his)

Frank West (He's really changed from TvC actually)

And some gameplay videos. Gameplay 1. Gameplay 2.

In an interesting bit of news for UMvC3, a new mode was introduced as well during the time of Phoenix Wright and Nova being revealed... a mode that screams "just for fun". Introducing... "Heroes & Hearlds"

That's it for UMvC3. From this point on, we now wait for the game, as it's now nearly upon us. The game gets released on November 15th this year, and it's already November 7th per this update. Oh boy!

Now for the next set of news. You may have noticed that the ATLF forum link vanished.

... ... ... ... look. It's a really long story. And I don't really feel like explaining it here. It's an ATLF personal problem. Lets leave it at that. Lets just say that it's sad that I get better treatment at a large active community forum than I do at a small forum. Speaking of large active community forums, the ATLF link was replaced by the Capcom Unity link. Have fun with that.

Last, but not least... new comic update. Whee.

Message Update:  Sunday, October 9, 2011

Wait, what? An update on time!? Well, the latest episode didn't take very long to make. There's also the matter that I was actually able to rip myself away from Gears of War 3 for awhile and focus on other things. Slow updates in the future are still expected though, especially once I'm in college for those classes I've decided I want to take.

Message Update:  Sunday, October 2, 2011

Well, updates are still coming in slow as expected. I blame Borderlands and Gears of War 3 for being really distracting and fun... and of course real life matters. No news on UMvC3 today guys, but I've got a new episode up for your enjoyment. ... ... geeze, it's already almost Halloween again. Wonder if I'll actually get a Halloween episode up this time?

Message Update:  Thursday, September 15, 2011

So... change in plans. Since my current computer is giving me issues on using Flash CS4, I'm going to have to ignore making the Season 1 opening flash for the time being. To make up for the fact there haven't been any updates in awhile during that time, there's a new episode up via the start of a new, and final, chapter. (Final chapter for Season 1 that is) Also, new character reveals for UMvC3.

Iron Fist (Looks really fun to play as)

Vergil (OMG! SO MUCH HHHHHHHHYYYYYYPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! The one new character I'm looking forward to playing as the most. I'm sorry Zero, but you may end up getting replaced by Vergil and he'll be teaming up with Dante and Felicia instead)

And here's some gameplay videos. Video 1. Video 2.

Also, I'm now finally considering getting Street Fighter X Tekken. Having seen the new modes released for it, I have just about every reason to get it now. Scramble mode? It's MUGEN all over again! Both characters of the team are out at once, which leads to another mechanic... CO-OP GAMEPLAY! AAAAWWWWW YEAH!

Message Update:  Saturday, August 20, 2011

Well, I got two new things up actually. But before we dig into that, I've got Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 news for you guys. Reveal trailers for them characters that were on the leaked list are up... well... two of them anyway.

Marvel: Dr. Strange

Capcom: Nemesis (... Nemesis's level 3 is creepy...)

Anyway, in terms of the website itself, the tutorial section is finished. Also, a new filler episode went up to boot, talking about the latest UMvC3 stuff. Go read it and have fun ladies and gentlemen. ... ... ya know... I think I've noticed something. Are "Mystic Legends" and "Heroes Inc" the only two sprite comics left still updating?

Message Update:  Sunday, August 07, 2011

The episode that finishes up Chapter 6 is now up. Not going to lie. At this point, it may be a long time before a new episode gets put up. Between the onslaught of upcoming games in November (and a little before that month), getting the tutorial section made, getting the opening flash animation for Season 1 up, making new sprites for characters that are finally going to get more involved, updating backgrounds for the series when possible, AND finally considering turning over a new leaf in my life and heading off to college, (Surprise! I have yet to attend college, and I'd like to do that while I'm still young) it sounds like I'm going to be VERY busy, making it so that comic updates come in SSSSSLLLLOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWW...

My first order of business though will be to update the tutorial section, as that'll give you guys a guide to making your own sprite comic while I'm busy with other stuff. That way, we can continue to get entertainment via you guys, the fans. Yes, sprite comics have died out since 2007, but some are still running, like this one.

Before anyone asks what I intend to do at college, I'm looking at improving upon my art and computer software knowledge... ESPECIALLY my art knowledge. I really, REALLY want to draw good stuff, and it's gotten to the point where if I can't seem to get anything good going myself, then I'm going to get college to help me with that. Actually, there's a lot of things I want to learn at college lately, so I'll be looking into that soon I hope. Hopefully, in about 5 to 10 years from now, I'll be making hand drawn pictures of my characters and other series characters that I'm actually satisfied with, along with improved knowledge in web design and what not. Heck, depending on what I learn, I may very well dive down the paths of Web Design or Animation for a job. We'll see though.

Until then, once the tutorial section is up, I'll let you guys know via a news post here, and then... well... see you guys again... whenever. :P (Unless you're in contact with me via MSN. I'll also visit the forums I go to every now and then to see what you guys are up to)

Message Update:  Monday, August 01, 2011

I almost didn't get this episode finished in time, heh. Oh well, it's up now.

I've got nothing to really talk about this time around. So instead, for those who are watching UMvC3 closely, I suggest you take a look here and keep track of the changes made to every character so far... so you know what to expect when you get the updated title. As the very beginning of the post says, take any and all of these updates with a grain of salt though, as these may not even be the final changes to the game yet. Said current tweaks to the characters and such may change AGAIN in the final release.

Message Update:  Sunday, July 24, 2011

Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 was confirmed!

... honestly, I was kinda hopping they wouldn't do anything like that... releasing it as a disc only release I mean. But hey, more characters, more stages, and lots of other stuff is getting added, so yay! As a result, I made a filler episode to go with this. It mostly just covers who I'm looking forward to the most, based on what was confirmed AND leaked.

Message Update:  Thursday, July 14, 2011

It's been awhile since I talked about MvC3. Let me say here and now that there's A LOT of rumors now going about saying that there'll be a SMvC3 of some sort. At this point, I'm starting to think it's likely too. Speaking of MvC3, I found an awesome Hagger/Arthur/Felicia combo video.

Combo Video

I know it's strange that I updated on a Thursday, but I'm going on vacation and won't be back until Monday. So I'm getting the latest episode up now before I set off. Enjoy!

Message Update:  Saturday, July 9, 2011

Well, I managed to get another episode up. I don't really have much to say for the general news today either. Happy late 4th of July though everyone. I meant to get a 4th of July episode up, but I just didn't feel like putting one up this year.

Message Update:  Sunday, July 3, 2011

So I recently picked up the game "Cross Edge". After all this time, I can't help but wonder why I doubted this game. It's freaking awesome! Screw what those "official critics" say! To be honest, I only recognize the Darkstalkers characters in this game, but that didn't stop me from making a team of which I only have one Darkstalker up front while the rest of the front line party consists of other series, ha ha. (Said Darkstalker up front is Felicia, for those curious... who also happens to be my strongest unit right now in terms of stats and equipment) I could go on about this, but I'll save it for the forum commentary. For now, enjoy the latest episode.

Message Update:  Sunday, June 26, 2011

Another two weeks without an update? Oh boy! Guess I'll just have to make up for that with three daily updates! Yeah. You heard right. :P

Anyway, before anything else, I can't believe I forgot to make a link to this video. Cool Ubisoft worker remix! At the same time, I can't help but feel sorry for this man. He was trying really hard to get the audience excited, but it was just DEAD. ... well... and at least half his jokes didn't interest me either. But still, the amount of flak and flames I've been seeing in the youtube comments about this man... this is as bad, if not worse, than a particular event I recently saw on a forum I go to. Geeze, cut the man some slack already. >_>

Yes, videogames have kept me distracted by quite a bit lately, along with other things I need to be focusing on. But speaking of videogames, if any of you have ever wanted to game with me lately, now would be a good time to ask, especially if it involves Borderlands... and perhaps even Team Fortress 2, as I got that lately too. Speaking of... guess what? It's FREE. Team Fortress 2 recently became FREE! I cannot stress it enough. If you've always thought about trying it, but never wanted to get it back then, GET IT NOW! It's... freaking... FREE!

Message Update:  Sunday, June 12, 2011

What's this!? No update last weekend!? ... well, I did give fair warning about Borderlands keeping me distracted didn't I? Anyway, go and read the episode first before you read today's main news? Why? You'll see why. Just go.

... done reading the episode? Alright then, here's the news:

E3 2011

You know it. It's happened. E3 has come and gone. So now it's time for me to go over what I'm looking forward to from this year's E3. First up...

Microsoft: Really? Not much was revealed during the Microsoft conference that interested me. Heck, they were the most boring one at E3 this year. Kinect has interesting features yes, but still... Related specifically to Microsoft though, I'm looking forward to these two games:

Gears of War 3
Halo 4

Sony: Not much revealed during this conference that interested me. Though combined with the games that are also coming out on the 360, here's the games I'm looking forward to:

Final Fantasy XIII-2
Dead Rising 2: Off the Record
Assassin's Creed Revelations
Saints Row: The Third

Nintendo: They dominated E3 this year. Seriously. They just introduced their new system, the Wii U, along with a NEW SUPER SMASH BROS! Aside from that, here's the games I'm looking forward to from Nintendo:

Paper Mario 3DS
Kirby Wii
TLoZ: Skyward Sword
Kid Icarus Uprising

There's more from Nintendo, but I don't feel like clogging up the list with too many game trailers. With that... I'm pretty much done. I don't have much else to say beyond this. Thanks for listening!

Message Update:  Tuesday, May 31, 2011

I normally don't update on Tuesdays, but I forgot to put this episode up yesterday. That being said, I feel the need to point out that I did just get Borderlands recently, and thus, I'll probably be heavily distracted from the comics for awhile. It's been awhile since I gave the comics a rest anyway. Maybe I'll quick have the will to finish up Chapter 6 here with more weekend updates, considering the fact that Chapter 6 is now very close to being completed, but after that, this comic will definately be getting some rest. And even when I get back into updating, before the comic itself moves on with the story and what not, I'll probably be working on bringing back the "Tutorial" section of the sprite comic section of this website. And perhaps after the "Tutorial" section is made, I'll make that flash opening I've always wanted to make for Story Arc 1, Season 1. We'll see though.

Oh boy, I just entered a slump in making comics. I guess it's because I'm now getting really pumped for the overly long delayed game known as Duke Nukem Forever. It's only a little over two weeks from being released now. Actually, I've just been in a videogame mood in general lately. Haven't really given myself any time to just sit down and play videogames for awhile after going into comic making overdrive. That being said, there IS a new update today, and maybe one tomorrow or Monday. I'm not sure yet.

Message Update:  Friday, May 20, 2011

Nothing really special to talk about. Before anyone asks, yes, I've been giving Felicia a lot of focus in the comic lately. I realize that. It'll probably be this way for a little while longer too. That being said, after today's episode, tomorrow will have a different character focus, just to change it up for at least one day. Whee.

Message Update:  Friday, May 13, 2011

First off, quick game news update. I have finally decided to pre-order Gears of War 3. However, I'm late to the beta testing event, as the things I really wanted to unlock have already come and gone. (And personally, I'm not all that interested in unlocking Thrashball Cole)

Now for the major news. My co-author partner Cybie is taking off on an important real life event. He'll be gone for a little over a year, which means I'm all on my own for that set amount of time. This is why I should also point out that the last episode "The ATLF Trial" and todays episode were in fact rushed for completion. I wound up cutting out over half the material I meant to use in the ATLF Trial episode, skipping to the end of the session instead. Todays episode doesn't really have much of any cut content, but I still had to rush for its completion before Cybie took off. There were several lines in the episode I made that I actually wasn't fully satisfied with and wanted to re-work a bit, but it's still decent enough and gets the point across.

Alright, without further delay, go ahead and read the episode.

Message Update:  Sunday, May 8, 2011

All I've got to say today is that if things go well today, I'll have another two episode updates to show off after this one. Maybe even three. I've really got nothing much to talk about beyond that though. Just go read the episodes.

Message Update:  Sunday, May 2, 2011

Sorry for the long delay, but the latest episode made and updated today was one of the longest episodes me and Cyb have made this year. It took a lot of work to get this episode done. But now it's finally here. And to top it off, a bunch of other later episodes beyond today's episode has been made as well. In short, this week will practically be "Mystic Legends" week. By that... DAILY UPDATES THROUGH THE WHOLE WEEK! ... almost.

In other news... guys... the latest Duke Nukem game is now only 2 days off. Seriously. Everyone ready to chew bubblegum yet? Oh wait... he's out... :P

EDIT: Oops. They pushed back the release date. Now it's June 14th. Son of a...

EDIT: In another quick news update, Osama Bin Laden has been reported killed recently. Things from this point on will either NOT be pretty... or things will get better. We'll have to wait and see.

Message Update:  Sunday, April 17, 2011

Blarg, I meant to get a new episode up yesterday, but Star Ocean: Til the end of Time has kept me very distracted. Anyway, I've still got 2 daily updates for you guys to view starting today and ending tomorrow. Both are much shorter episodes than Episode 216, which was very heavy dialouge based. Still though, it explained Felicia's position, and it more or less was the official invitation for her into the comic. Did I pull any heart strings that episode? I probably did. It was the most emotional episode I've made recently.

Message Update:  Friday, April 8, 2011

The last general news post was so short, that I just decided to get rid of it for today's update. Anyway, before we get started, I have videogame news to share today. I'm late to the draw on this, but has anyone heard that the game "Megaman Universe" got cancelled? Yeah, really, it was cancelled. The game that we were getting worldwide while Korea gets Megaman Online... got cancelled. Capcom, why are you guys trying to keep Megaman away from us lately? If you aren't going to at least give us Megaman Universe, then bring Megaman Online over here!

Anyway, the comics... Do you remember that I mentioned that I'd probably be on an episode making craze for this month? I wasn't kidding. I've got FOUR daily updates of episodes for you guys to view this weekend, all the way to Monday. Special thanks to Cybie for finally getting an episode done in time before my next three episodes. What are you waiting for? There's lots of reading material ahead, and be sure to check back every day up to Monday this weekend.

Message Update:  Monday, March 28, 2011

Oooppps! Meant to get this episode up yesterday, but Star Ocean: Till the end of Time has kept me very distracted. Regardless, I think I'll be going into a comic making overdrive for the following month. Why? Because my co-author partner Cyb will be taking off soon. Where he's going? I won't answer that. That knowledge will only be passed around by Cyb himself. Due to this, I want to make episodes for him to see before he takes off, and there's also the case of the episode we still have to make together before he takes off. I've only really got the month left to work with, so I'm going to try and devote all my attention to the comics for this month.

... despite the fact that I just got my 3DS too. May not even bother picking it up and playing it for awhile this upcoming month, except to fiddle around with a few things on there. Also, I got Pokemon White and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days for those interested. Looking at other DS and 3DS games I can get. I made sure both of my starting games come with multiplayer support, so yeah. Speaking of multiplayer though, anyone looking forward to this game? Strider fans will have flashbacks.

Message Update:  Saturday, March 19, 2011

Before I begin to discuss anything, allow me to point out one of the most beautiful 3D rendered backgrounds that I've ever seen made based off old SNES backgrounds:

You can't tell me that doesn't look beautiful, ESPECIALLY if you've played "Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars". Robert, you've really hit my old SNES days sweetspot this time. I recall playing through Super Mario RPG so many times, why... I must have completed it over 20 times. To this date, Super Mario RPG is still by far the best Mario RPG game I've ever played. Speaking of Mario RPG games though, the sheer fact that the 3DS is getting the next Paper Mario game has made me consider finally getting into handheld gaming again. In fact, by the time you guys are reading this, I may have decided to place my pre-order for a 3DS, along with Pokemon White. I've been out of the handheld gaming department for so long, I've forgotten what it's like to have games that you can take with you wherever you go.

... ... now I want to see a 3D remake of Super Mario RPG...

Anyway, latest episode is up.

EDIT: I forgot to mention this earlier. In a recent surprise while I was reading the commentary to the latest Heroes Inc episode (pictured above), one of the readers commented about the existance of my own sprite comic series. It's nice to know that the popularity of my series is still spreading. :P

Message Update:  Friday, March 11, 2011

I actually didn't mean to keep you guys waiting this long for the next episode. I wanted to get this episode up on Monday, but it wasn't finished when that day came along. I finally got this episode done on Wednesday, but I didn't get around to updating the website to show off the latest comic until today. Why did I want to get it up sooner? Because it's an episode with a multi-choice scenario that affects the main story. In depth, it affects the relationship between Nuke and DMG. Go check it out, and then vote on the forum. I don't know when I'll get around to making the next few episodes. Despite the fact that I'm in a serious comic constructing mood due to where the story is currently at, I've been heavily distracted by "Dragon Age II" and "Okami". So who knows how much time you guys have for voting before I decide to make the next episode. We'll see though won't we?

Message Update:  Sunday, March 6, 2011

So I finally decided to get the game "Okami" after all these years. Now I'm wondering why the heck I didn't get this 2006 game sooner. After seeing "Okami" get a rep in MvC3, along with people suggesting and asking why I haven't gotten this game yet, I decided to finally get a copy of the game just last Tuesday. (Got it for $24) I have to say... this game REALLY DOES play out like a Legend of Zelda game. It's like Capcom's take on the genre. Oh, and the new games don't end there. I've also been currently playing another old game recently bought titled "Valkyrie Profile II". To top it all off, there's the pre-order for "Dragon Age II" that'll be arriving at my house THIS coming Tuesday. SO I'VE GOT 3 NEW GAMES TO PLAY THROUGH! Despite all that though, I still managed to get a single update this week. Enjoy the latest episode.

Message Update:  Saturday, Febuary 26, 2011

For the main news of today, I really don't have anything MvC3 related to talk about. Though given the fact that the game is already out and that the Capcom Unity board is handling this stuff anyway, again, I don't have much to talk about. However, I will mention that "Shadow Mode" is nearly here, and so are the DLC costumes for 6 characters. That's all. Go read the latest episode.

Message Update:  Sunday, Febuary 20, 2011

Sometimes, I even surprise myself. By that, I mean I managed to get in a typical Sunday comic update, despite the 4 previous daily updates. I got more poses for Dracone in the comic by taking what poses of Andrew I already had done and changing them to look like Dracone. Both sprite sheets are still incomplete, and will probably remain incomplete for quite some time, but hey, I'm making progress.

Anyway, even though MvC3 hasn't been out for a full week yet, I feel the need to point out to you guys that SOMEONE ALREADY COMPLETED ALL THE MISSIONS THAT MISSION MODE HAD TO OFFER! (No, not me. I'm still working on that) And he did it flawlessly. With every character. Just... wow. You can find those videos on Youtube. Speaking of that, there's also combo videos of various characters going around... and THEY'RE CRAZY! I learned a few new tricks to playing as Felicia just by watching those videos, going to training mode, and practicing up on those combos. Whee to OTG (Off the ground) attacks to continue beating down the opponent even after they land face first into the ground. I know how to combo as Felicia, Dante, and Zero now, I assure you. It's just a matter of fine tuning my reflexes and seeing if any changes need to be made to how I combo my opponents. Related to crazy combo videos from MvC3, I have two example videos here.

Oh, and just to add to how scary certain characters being buffed from MvC2 to MvC3 can be.

Felicia Combo 1 1000000 damage. No assist. No x-factor.

Felicia Combo 2 1300000 damage. No assist. No x-factor. Full meter.

It'll be fun to pull out these sick nasty combo videos on those who shout out "Felicia is low tier!". Low tier my ***. I'd actually be surprised if she was low tier for MvC3 despite the serious buffs she now has. That being said, screw tiers. I use who I please. There's also the matter that it doesn't matter if a particular character is god or high tier. Doesn't change the fact that every player has their own preferences, and some can't even grasp certain high tier/god tier characters properly. I've said it before, and I'll say it as many times as necessary. There's a character(s) out there for every player. You just got to find said appropriate character(s) for your preferred playstyle. Alright... now with that said, go on and read the latest episode.

Message Update:  Saturday, Febuary 12, 2011

My birthday was yesterday! Whoo! I'm now officially 23 years old. Anyway, I'm going to say here and now that this'll be the last bit of MvC3 news that I deliver before it's released. For those who haven't already noticed, Capcom has been very hush hush about revealing more details from the game lately. This is all because the game is so close to being officially released now. The most news I can deliver about MvC3 today are these gameplay videos that IGN released for various characters. So here we go...

Dante Gameplay

Felicia Gameplay

Zero Gameplay

Amaterasu Gameplay

Ryu Gameplay

Deadpool Gameplay

Spiderman Gameplay

Wesker Gameplay

Dante and Ryu (especially Ryu) needed some video loving, and they finally got some more to work with. Also, fair note if you're still reading this before watching the videos... prepare for many "meow!" and "nya!" moments in the Felicia gameplay video. There's more IGN gameplay videos in the releated links for those interested. Also, the final boss has also been leaked by IGN, who went out of their way to make an "official" character reveal trailer for him. I'm not going to post the link here though. As far as I'm concered, I've given away enough spoilers.

As for this website itself, I've made enough episodes and quips to make a countdown to the release of MvC3 occur, so from here on out, expect at least 4 daily updates... to the day of MvC3 being released. If we're really lucky and things go according to plan, there'll even be an episode update AFTER MvC3 is released by the next day. Why? Because I want to leave you guys something else to speculate about before I get heavily distracted by MvC3.

In minor news, the Chapter 6 picture is now up. Now go read the latest episode, and be sure to check back each and every day for now until MvC3 is released.

PS: Felicia apparently now has a new dash move that makes her invincible to attacks while dashing, and it even allows her to get BEHIND her opponent. This short GIF shows what I mean by that:

Your projectile spam means nothing to her now!

Message Update:  Saturday, Febuary 5, 2011

The results of the voting are in. Go check out the details on the forum.

Anyway, I have more videogame news today here. What? More MvC3 news? NOPE! Not this time. I might have some next update by tomorrow if more MvC3 news comes out tomorrow, but as of right now, there's nothing new about MvC3 to talk about... well... except the fact that the "Episode 4 Trailer" was leaked onto the internet. I won't talk about that here though in the main news section, seeing as how Capcom has been going out of their way to snub all the videos.

The major news I have today is for Megaman fans. I carry both good news and bad news about this upcoming game. First off, watch these trailers:

New Megaman Trailer #1

New Megaman Trailer #2

Gameplay 1

Gameplay 2

The game is titled "Megaman Online". (or Rockman Online depending how you look at it) How appropriate, considering that IS what the game is all about. Guess what? As you saw from the gameplay trailers, it still has the side scrolling 2D run and gun platforming aspect. Only this time... you are NOT alone. Gather your friends and tackle missions TOGETHER! HECK YEAH! This will especially appeal to those who really liked Castlevania: Harmony of Despair. I say that because this IS basically Capcom's take on side scrolling co-op online play. The one major thing to point out here though is that similar to Castlevania HD, you AREN'T actually playing as the real heroes themselves. You're a copy of said hero. I think it'll be easier if I just copy a portion of Wiki info here:

"Rockman Online takes place in the far future, where the characters from the Mega Man and Mega Man X series had long since passed away, including the Maverick threat.

Believing the threat of Mavericks are gone for good, society is taken by surprise one day when a large number of Mavericks began to wreak havoc. In response, the UCA (United Continent Association), initiates the production of copies of X, Zero and Duo, among other heroes, to combat the rampant Mavericks. The UCA went so far as to embed the DNA Souls of the original heroes onto a chip housed within the copy bodies to further enhance their abilities in an effort to make them as legitimate as possible. The Mavericks associated with Rockman Online are actually rebuilt and heavily customized versions of enemies from the past, produced in a similar manner to the X, Zero and Duo copies.

So far the game has four types of playable characters classes: X Type, Zero Type, Duo Type and Cinnamon Type. The playable characters aren't the actual X, Zero, Duo and Cinnamon, but rather a Reploid that can copy the DNA of legendary Reploids and take on their appearance and abilities."

So basically, similar to Castlevania HD, you can have an army of Zeros running around on the map. :3

That was the good news. Now for the bad news... ... this game is only coming out in Korea. ARE THEY SERIOUS!? ONLY IN KOREA!? They'd better bring this game over here! I've been waiting for a Megaman game like this for a LONG time. I finally see trailers for such a game... only to find out that it's only going to available in Korea? FIX THAT CAPCOM. Bring it over here as well.

I'm not sure if I'll have an update up tomorrow, but we'll see.

Message Update:  Tuesday, Febuary 1, 2011

A late night Tuesday update? Seriously? In answer to the question, it's because I got an episode up that includes multi-choice. I can't make the next episode until AT LEAST one vote pours in. (Which won't be hard to do at all really) You all have up until Friday or Saturday before I count the votes and decide how to make the next episode. In order to vote, you MUST be a member of the Mystic Legends forum, as the voting polls are in there. I'm currently thinking of alternate solutions for the other forums I post the comic series at. Just give me some time.

Remember... if you're having trouble signing up for the forum, LET ME KNOW... by E-mail.

Message Update:  Saturday, January 29, 2011

You Capcom developers are kidding me right? This is the third time this month you guys brought out character reveal trailers. Oh well... Time to show off the new videos.

First up, we have...

That giant robot that appeared in MvC2 is back. Hey! That means I can try that infinite combo lock strategy with Felicia! (Assuming it still works like that) For those wondering what I'm talking about, here's a quick video of that.

And then we have...

Yay! Another Darkstalkers character. Though I must express disappointment in the fact that it isn't Jon Talbain. Ah well. I guess if you want to form an entire team of Darkstalker only characters this time around, you'll have to make your team entirely out of female characters. :P

Now here's some gameplay videos of those two:

Gameplay 1

Gameplay 2

Gameplay 3 (Dante has something funny to say when he sees Hsien-ko)

Finally, according to the TV Tropes updates, it turns out that Frank West and Megaman were originally part of the MvC3 roster, but were both axed. Megaman was axed in favor of making way for Zero, while Frank West... is an interesting story. Frank West was in fact about 98% complete, but got cut due to... "problems." That, and they wanted to spend time on making the other characters. Perhaps in the future we'll see both Megaman and Frank West appear as DLC characters.

Now go read the latest episode.

Message Update:  Friday, January 21, 2011

Yes, I realize I didn't update last week. Anyway, I have LOADS of videogame discussion to talk about today. Most of it of course revolves around MvC3, but I've also got news about Final Fantasy today. Prepare yourselves for a long read...

First off, we'll talk MvC3. Also first off, to address the Felicia fans who are annoyed with the fact that she hasn't appeared in many of official video releases of MvC3, allow to point out these quotes from TV Tropes:

"Felicia has only appeared in a few English-language gameplay videos due to her... appearance. Heck, she's the reason why the game's rating includes a "Partial Nudity" disclaimer.

Capcom has pointed out numerous times that the ESRB's marketing material guidelines are the reason Felicia's been noticeably absent from officially-released gameplay videos."

So are we clear on that now? Yes, it's a bit annoying, but there's really nothing we can do about that. If you really want to see her commence various combo frenzy attacks on her opponents, you're going to have to wait until the game is officially released. You can always try to look up combo videos of her via Youtube of course. There's also this video, which takes several characters into a single combo based video. Finally, in reference to what is mentioned in today's comic update, there's also this article that Seth made. Hope that'll keep you Felicia fans happy for awhile.

Also, those who play online fighting games frequently are going to LOVE this article...

And before I go any further, allow me to mention that Dante may very well be considered the most powerful character of this game, considering this quote from the same TV Tropes section:

"Beyond The Impossible: For the record, Seth Killian states that with his 40+ specials in the game, Dante has more special moves than any other fighter in Capcom history. Take a look for yourself."

... yyyyyyeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh... I'm going to need to spend a large amount of time playing as Dante if I really want to master him it sounds like.

Now lets get into the character reveal trailers. Four characters have been announced this month, and I wouldn't be surprised if some of you have already found the videos. For those who haven't or were just waiting on me, here we go:

That's right. Jean Grey was added to the line up. And she has by far the lowest amount of stamina in the game, period. (Confirmed) This is made up for by the fact that she dishes out by far the most damage out of any other character in the game, even going beyond ZERO! She's also the only character in the game to have a level 5 hyper move. If her health bar hits zero when the hyper gauge is completely filled, she's REVIVES herself with FULL HEALTH, TRANSFORMS, AND IS EVEN MORE POWERFUL AS THE DARK PHOENIX AWAKENS! ... however, her health will begin to rapidly decrease upon transforming, so you better make the most of it!

Mike Hagger

Those images we saw online weren't fake. Mike Hagger from Final Fight is in. And boy... does he love to wrestle! Heck, I'm thinking of taking him for a spin, just to put on a Piledriver to Shuma-Gorath. :P And here's a gameplay video of the two:

Mike Hagger/Phoenix Gameplay

Now before we move on to the next two here, I feel the need to point out that these next two characters are UNLOCKABLE characters. You don't get them via DLC. You have to EARN them. Got that? Alright, here we go.

Akuma and Taskmaster

Hey Silver! Yeah! You! The one from ATLF. Rejoice. Your favorite character is in. Now how about some gameplay videos?

Gameplay 1

Gameplay 2

F.Y.I. in order to unlock Akuma and Taskmaster, you have to aquire a certain number of "Player Points". Akuma can be bought for 2,000 PP, while Taskmaster costs 8,000 PP. So there you go.

Finally, I feel the need to point out this little quip from the TV Tropes section of MvC3 as well:

"What Could Have Been: Part of the reason additional Darkstalkers characters were not included was, according to Niitsuma, due to a limited development schedule, but that he wanted to add more characters if he could. In particular, he notes that the American darkhorse Jon Talbain would have been [his] pick."

Considering we have DLC characters confirmed for this game, sometime in the future after the release of MvC3, it's possible we MAY see Jon Talbain as a DLC character. "MAY" being the key word in there. Honestly, I hope it happens.

Phew, finally done with that. Now, before you go reading the latest comic update, here's that Final Fantasy news I wanted to show:

Final Fantasy XIII-2 Official Trailer

They kid you not. There's a sequel coming out for Final Fantasy XIII. I just hope that they actually bring back some of the stuff that made the past Final Fantasy titles good. Seriously, XIII lacked half of the things that made Final Fantasy so good, which didn't sit right with me. Though the battle system made up for it. :D

... phew. Now go read the latest comic update will ya? F.Y.I. there may be a total of three updates this weekend, starting from today. So be sure to check back Saturday and Sunday alright?

Message Update:  Saturday, January 8, 2011

Some more MvC3 videos came out, but for some odd reason, they aren't on the official website yet. I'll give them until the next weekend update for them to get those videos up before I just decide to post links over here. If you want an early view of 2 characters being announced like... 2 days ago, go look them up yourself for now.

Anyway, the first interview has now happened. Kurama did well if you ask me.

Message Update:  Saturday, January 1, 2011

Hey look guys! It's the new year! Huzzah! And now that it's 2011, that means we're only about a month and a half away from the release of Marvel VS Capcom 3! HUZZAH!

Anyway, new comic and all that. Kind of a short one today, but meh. Speaking of the comics, I actually managed to get two made this week, so there'll be another comic update tomorrow. Check in on that will ya?

Also, the developers of MvC3 decided to put out a Christmas Special trailer. Go check it out eh? (Warning, may contain spoilers from the upcoming Episode 4 Trailer)

Message Update:  Saturday, December 25, 2010

Oh look. The latest comic is up. There's a surprise at the end too, so read on.

Anyway, in terms of videogame news, I finally decided to get Assassin's Creed II and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood for the PS3. As I believe I mentioned in my forum commentary earlier, my PS3 needs more videogame loving. Heck, I already know for FACT that my PS3 has the LEAST number of games out of all the latest gen gaming systems I have, EVEN IF I add my PS2 games to the count of games my PS3 can play. Even my PC has more games. :O

Since then, I've been distracted by Assassin's Creed II, trying to play catch up with the series. However, I still found the will to sit down in front of my computer today and make today's update. Hopefully, I'll have another one up for you guys next Saturday/Sunday.

Message Update:  Saturday, December 18, 2010

So uh... while I wasn't looking, new MvC3 material popped up. There's a few good videos to watch, and then some after I did a bit of digging.

Episode 3 Trailer

C. Viper

Gameplay 1

Gameplay 2

Plus, here's a few extra videos I digged up. 1 is old, but the last 2 seem more recent to me.

Gameplay 1

Gameplay 2

Gameplay 3 (Sort of. I couldn't find the full match video)

All I can say is... FINALLY! Someone who actually knew what they were doing as Felicia and actually recorded said matches... with just the last one launching us in to an already ongoing match. Oh, and for those who were wondering what the heck Felicia tried pulling off and failed to do in that last gameplay video, here's a clip for ya to watch:

Felicia's Level 3 Hyper Finisher

Yeah... it's back. Still as corny as ever if you ask me. Still, there's just something funny about it that I can't quite put my finger on...

Anyway, new comic up. At this rate, I fear I may not even be done with this party chapter until next year.

Message Update:  Sunday, December 12, 2010

Freaking snow storms man. I easily got about 12 feet of snow to shovel yesterday, and then some. Anyway, I got a new comic up. It's taking longer to get to the parts I really want to talk about then I thought it would, but I don't want to do away with the jokes I had planned for the second party chapter either. With the various comments I keep seeing about particular videogames and debates, I just really... really... want to put my foot down and try and snap these people to their senses. I mean come on... YOU GUYS ARE FREAKING ARGUING ABOUT VIDEOGAMES! WE DON'T EVEN NEED TO THEM IN ORDER TO SURVIVE IN REAL LIFE, AND YET YOU GUYS MAKE SUCH A BIG DEAL OUT OF IT! Geeze, I already wound up saying a little of what I wanted to say in this here commentary. I'll save the rest for the "interview with Nuke" episodes later in Party Chapter 2.

Message Update:  Saturday, December 4, 2010

Wow... it's already December... And I forced you guys to wait about another 2 weeks... And for only a 5 panel episode? Well hey, I've made 1 to 3 panel episodes earlier. Also, last I checked, the typical length of an episode of a comic is 3 to 4 panels anyway. So yeah. I've got good news though. I was in enough of a comic making mood that I've actually got 2 episodes made. So I'll post one up not only today, but tomorrow as well. Be sure to check in on that, because I won't be updating the general news section for tomorrow.

One thing I forgot to mention in the MvC3 news. There's been official confirmation that there'll be downloadable characters for the game. Yes... DLC characters... Hope they don't go overboard on that. Don't believe me? Check out the cast list on the official website. Characters that are DLC content are clearly marked as such. That being said, Jill and Shuma have been confirmed as DLC characters. They're also releasing a special edition of MvC3 (Similar to what Fable II and III did), which automatically comes with the first 2 confirmed DLC characters along with other goodies. It's all located on the main page of the website. Heh... MvC3 is now only roughly about 2 months away now that I think about it.

I've been having a lot of fun with Donkey Kong Country Returns. Co-op is really fun. That's all I got to say about game updates really.

Message Update:  Monday, November 22, 2010

And... I forced you guys to wait about 2 weeks before a new comic update is put out. Man, you can just tell when I'm in a comic making slump. Though part of the blame goes to the fact that I just got 2 new games recently. First off, I just got Castlevania: Lords of Shadow for the PS3. (Because my PS3 needed more videogame loving) I also got Donkey Kong Country Returns for my Wii, which came out sooner than I expected too. Fun stuff yo.

Speaking of stuff coming out sooner than expected, and I don't care that this could be old news right now, Marvel VS Capcom 3 just got an official release date. When it was first announced, it was planned to be released sometime in Spring 2011. Now they're saying it's going to be out on February 15 2011. Boy, they're ahead of schedule. And speaking of Marvel VS Capcom 3, 4 new trailers have come out. 2 gameplay videos and 2 character reveal trailers.

First up, we have...

I recall someone quickly asking as to why we're getting all these female versions of male heroes lately. If you're asking that, then you obviously haven't read the newspaper announcement that I saw. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find that article at the moment. Once I do find it, I'll let you guys know via a forum post or here on this website via the next update. Anyway, I also recall someone mentioning that after watching this reveal trailer, She-Hulk is looking like a charger character. Wheee. Honestly, I don't have much to say about her entrance.

Then we have someone I've always wanted to see in the latest MvC3 game...

MOTHER... *******... ZERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I nearly squealed with delight when I saw Zero announced. And they even took his theme music from Megaman X 2, which if you ask me, is by far his best theme music of all time. So now I have a new... wait. I've already got 3 characters planned out. ... ... ... you're now asking me what I'm going to do about my team line up now right? Since you can only have 3 characters on your team, in order to put Zero in, I'd have to remove either Dante, Felicia, or Ryu from the line up yes? Yeah, I know that. But nothing ever said I had to use the same team formation every time right? In other words, I'm thinking of something like this:

1: Dante
2: Felicia
3: Zero
4: Ryu
I can and will swap between these 4 characters. For example, the first time you go against me, my team may consist of Dante, Zero, and Felicia. But the next time you go against me, it could be Dante, Zero, and Ryu. Actually, for that matter, there are so many new interesting characters to try out that the next time you face off against me, my team may not even have any of these 4 characters that I prefer to play as. In other words, my team could consist of Arthur, Amaterasu, and Deadpool for all you know.

Anyway, here's the two gameplay trailers:

Gameplay 1

Gameplay 2

After watching both of these trailers... well... I can just hear it now... Zero = God Tier character of this game. I'm pretty sure we'll be hearing from various people saying just how broken Zero is. However, if I hear anyone start making a fuss about how you should learn to block/play the game, or die because that certain someone complained, then I have one message for that person who's yelling his/her head off like that. (Most likely a guy. Usually is) The world DOESN'T revolve around you. Everyone has their own gaming preferences, and the sooner you accept this, the better off we'll all be. (I saw a particular Youtube comment that just made me want to shoot the guy, before the rest of you ask why I just typed all that out)

And yes, new comic. Yay! You'll have to forgive me if there isn't a new comic update in 1 to 3 weeks (possibly beyond) again. All these new games that are now coming out are quite distracting.

Message Update:  Sunday, November 07, 2010

I can tell I'm not in the mood for comic making lately. I've been very slow with the construction, which is sad because I really wanted to get to making these party episode to explain so many things. Ah well. One can hope I'll get back into the mood again soon. That being said, I did get a new update today regardless of my current mood. It's just a short six panel episode though. Short and straight to the point.

Message Update:  Sunday, October 31, 2010

I apologize for the lack of a Halloween special update today, but there's 2 reasons for that:

1: My last pet cat Beta just died this Thursday, and I'm still trying to get over that. Granted, she was sick, had a major case of Arthritis, and was 19 years old. But still... I... I really didn't want to take her in. I'd rather she'd have died of old age. To this day, I still miss hearing her meows as she walked into my room looking for attention. It may take awhile for me to get over this. Yeah, I'm still bummed out.

2: Fable III came out on Oct 26... and... well... I've been heavily distracted by that game. By the time Saturday came around, I realized I hadn't even started the next party episode, so I was in a bit of a rush to get it finished. Luckily, I didn't skip any parts to this episode, and it came out better than I thought it would.

So uh... yeah... HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE! Again, I apologize for the lack of Halloween event this year.

Oh lordy, I forgot just how FUN it is to play with random people online. Lately, I've actually been playing co-op on Castlevania HD recently, and... well... lets just say it was WAY more fun playing with multiple people than playing solo. Course, it helps that Castlevania HD was MADE that way to begin with. Not forgetting to mention how much quicker it is to get through a level with multiple people by your side. Course, the developers saw fit to make it so that the more players there are running around, the HP and damage inflicted by enemies go up per player added to the team. So a hard mode Dracula will prove to be very difficult to solo farm with six players running around. Get all the players in the same room though with powerful equipment... well... you get the picture. :P

Somewhere in there, several people preferred me, and my gamer reputation shot up. I feel loved. :3

Anyway, new comic update.

Message Update:  Sunday, October 17, 2010

You ever have one of those days where you just can't find the will to work on your comic until it's about the time to update your website? That's what happened to me today, ha ha. Anyway, I got a new episode finished just on time for you guys. The main reasons as to why I couldn't find the will to work on the episodes was because for one, I was busy cleaning up Felicia's sprite sheet. It still isn't finished, but it's much better looking as of right now. And the second reason is because I was having too much fun in Castlevania HD lately. Well... kinda... I'm working on raising Charlotte now, and trying to absorb heal spells is an absolute pain. Regardless, enjoy the lastest comic.

Message Update:  Sunday, October 9, 2010

Ok, so things didn't go according to plan as expected. By the time I got the last update, I had acquired a new game called "Blade Kitten". If you don't know what it's about, get this... IT STARTED AS A WEBCOMIC! Granted, the transition to videogame was easy for the creator, because there were no copyright issues to deal with in this series since all of the characters at least are original creations only. The game itself functions as a 2.5D game with, as far as I'm concerned, Devil May Cry style action. Kit Ballard is the game's main heroine that you control. Her movelist isn't anywhere near as big as Dante's, but what moves she does know gets the job done. Unlike Dante, her blade actually has a limited A.I. built into it and even floats! All she has to do is command the blade to attack stuff. She'll still grab the blade and use it in the old fashioned way, but most of the time, you'll probably just have her commanding the blade to float around and attack foes. The levels are huge, which makes this game worth more than the $15 that you have to cough up for this game.

I may do a full review of this game later if people ask me to do so, but for now, there's just 3 things you got to know about Kit if you decide to get this game:

1: She does away with all the stereotypical things of cat girls. Yes. Seriously. Don't underestimate her just because she has a pink tail and pink hair. EVER. She's the most badass cat girl that you will ever lay eyes on. ALMOST Dante level badass I might add. What cuts her back from Dante level badass though is the fact that she actually DOES fear something. She has NIGHTMARES about that particular thing. I'm not going any further than that though for the sake of not spoiling too much of the game. (And uh... pardon my french back there, but the Cans of Whoopass have rubbed off on me I believe)

2: She is a highly trained, highly experienced, and highly lethal bounty hunter. Again, don't you ever underestimate her because of the fact that she has pink hair, pink cat ears, and a pink tail. Heck, don't you even dare say "It's only a girl!" which random mooks will say from time to time.

Or else THIS will happen to you. You're being flung all about with no hope of victory.

3: Don't even think about taking the time to mock or threaten her:

Just because you have a gun pointed straight at her head, doesn't mean she can't quickly turn the tables on you.

Seriously, don't even THINK about taking the time to mock her and let her know you've got a gun to her head. Otherwise, she can AND WILL quickly disarm you without breaking a sweat... before you even have time to pull the trigger I might add.

For now, that's all I'm going to say about the game in general. You want to know more? Get the demo, the full game, or keep asking me for a game review of Blade Kitten.

On the topic of videogames, 4 MORE new characters were revealed for Marvel VS Capcom 3.

And a general gameplay video

Last, but not least, I have a new comic update today. AND THIS TIME, I SHOULD HAVE ANOTHER ONE UP BY TOMORROW AS WELL! Check back tomorrow for the update.

Message Update:  Sunday, October 3, 2010

Wow. It's already October again. Anyway, new party episode. And if all goes well, I'll have another party episode update come tomorrow. Yay. Be sure to check back on your own on Monday for a possible new comic update.

Message Update:  Monday, September 27, 2010

... but just to let you guys know, there probably won't be any new updates for a little while now. Probably won't be a new one until Saturday or Sunday. If all goes according to plan though with how fast I'm making the party episodes, I may be able to get in daily updates for all of next week. Yay.

Message Update:  Saturday, September 25, 2010

As promised, here's another comic update along the main storyline. And I've already got the last MvC3 episode prepped for tomorrow, so come back to check on that tomorrow because I won't be updating the news section here on this page for that day.

Message Update:  Friday, September 24, 2010

AN UPDATE ON A FRIDAY!? Yes. You see, I have plans to get to the 200th Party Special ASAP now, simply because there's a lot of stuff I really want to explain and say to you guys, the viewers, about the future of Mystic Legends along with some other stuff. So if all goes according to plan, I'll be able to get the last 2 episodes of Chapter 5 up, get the last MvC3 episode up, and then after that, upon the next update... the 200th party special will commence. So what are you waiting for? Go read the latest episode!

Message Update:  Sunday, September 19, 2010

So I had a chance to finally view my own website through another browser. By that, I mean I used Firefox to see if there was anything different with my website, and boy, there were some differences alright. The main menu on this index page was messed up! Not by much, but still. And yet, through Internet Explorer, this website looks just fine. Why can't it just look right on both browsers? >_>
So, in the meantime, if you use Firefox, tough luck. This website is best viewed through Internet Explorer for now. I'll see if I can make future changes to get it to look right on both browsers, but that's a ways off for now.

Oh geeze. 4 new characters for Marvel VS Capcom 3 were revealed in the time it took between for this update to occur and the last update.

Tron Bonne and X-23

Spiderman and Wesker (Take THAT you non-believers of Spiderman's appearance! ... ... not that he'll be one of my main characters, but still)

You know... with all these updates we keep getting from them, it makes you wonder why the heck it's going to take until "Spring 2011" for this game to be released. Maybe they've got a lot of bugs to work out still? Or maybe they're working on something bigger that we don't know about yet...

But lets not think about that too much yet. Instead, go have fun reading the latest episode of Mystic Legends.

PS: Halo: Reach is fun. Forge mode is even better than ever now.

Message Update:  Saturday, September 11, 2010

First off, a new MvC3 Trailer is out now. Check it out!

Now with that out of the way, I'd also like to point out that the gamertag section of the website has been re-formatted and is now complete. Check it out at some point will ya?

Oh, and of course there's a new episode today.

Message Update:  Sunday, September 5, 2010

Hey guys! Guess what? Cybie finished episode 195. Go check it out.

Anyway, for those still reading this, I've got a good bit to talk about. First off, let me say that "Metroid: Other M" is by far the hardest Metroid game I've ever played to date. Granted, Team Ninja managed to get their hands on this game, so I expected a difficulty spike, but man... For the first time in a Metroid game ever, you can get killed in one hit if you aren't careful. It doesn't even matter how many energy tanks you're packing. There's no surviving being gobbled up by a huge monster. I'm not saying anything else about the game beyond that though. The game is still a recent release, and I don't want to spoil any of the major things you'll encounter in the game.

This last bit of news I have relates to the Mystic Legends forum. I went through a member base clean up. By that, I mean I deleted any accounts that have never made a single post in the entire time they were registered. This brought the entire member list down to 13 active users. So in other words, if you had an account there and find out it no longer exists when you attempt to log in, it's because you never made a single post in the time you were there. You're going to have to re-register your account and actually speak up this time. In fact, anyone who joins the forum should waste no time in making a post to help determine if you're actually a human member. If you don't post anything when I get around to cleaning up the member list again, I'll consider you a bot, and delete the account from the forum. Are we clear on that now?

Message Update:  Sunday, August 22, 2010

Well, it may certainly be awhile before the next comic update now. While I did get a new episode up today, this series SERIOUSLY won't be going anywhere now until Cybie finishes episode 195. That all being said, I AM still making episodes, but I won't be putting any of those up until episode 195 gets hosted. And before anyone asks about the MvC episodes, the next episode in line for that short storyline will also be the last episode of the storyline. I know. Much shorter than I planned. (Though I wound up cutting a lot of the material I had planned out of the picture in my mind for the sake of getting to the 200th party special faster) Hope you guys can wait awhile for Cybie to get around to making that episode... especially considering that Metroid: The Other M is now just around the corner. That's right, the latest Metroid game comes out this Friday. You can bet me and Cybie will be sucked into that game... which will likely result in the series being delayed for a good long while if I know Cybie as well as I think I do.

Thursday Edit: Ok, the game got pushed back to August 31, which is this coming Tuesday. Hope there aren't any more push backs on the release date.

Message Update:  Sunday, August 15, 2010

There's something I totally forgot to mention on my last update. Have you guys noticed that the blue background of this website is even darker than it used to be? I had already darkened it before to make the white text such as this stand out more against the background, but I decided it wasn't enough eventually. Why? One day, when I was really tired and my eyes weren't as focused as they usually are... well... something seemed off when I was trying to read the white text. It dawned on me that perhaps certain people would be having similar issues. So I made the background even darker than usual, but the fancy blue stuff can still be seen. Hope no one has any complaints about that now, because I really like my website the way it is right now thank you.

Oh, and I also finally threw up a new game review. Go check it out on the forum.

Message Update:  Sunday, August 8, 2010

In Cybie's defense, he HAS started making episode 195, along with NEW CUSTOM POSES of Xyphin. But this may take awhile longer guys. In the meantime, I present a short side story of comics with new characters and sprites. (Mostly) Go check it out.

If you're still reading this, I have A LOT to talk about again. (Hey, it's been over 3 weeks since the last update) The thing I'll be discussing a lot about this time around will be Marvel VS Capcom 3. While I "typically" don't make long paragraph's worth of material for a game that isn't even out yet, I'm just going to say here and now that I sense another "Super Smash Bros Brawl" hype moment here. Think about it. A crossover fighting game taking different characters from different series? You just KNOW there's going to be a lot of discussion (and even arguments) about who should get in and why <insert character name here> should have been left out.

First off, some trailers for you to watch:

Full E3 Trailer
E3 Trailer showing off several more characters to be officially confirmed. (Captain America and Felicia in particular have their names shown off)

So far, everything looks great. If this keeps up, I may be as hyped for this game as I was for SSBB. However, my... errr... "desire" for this game isn't all THAT high right now. Sure, I'll be getting this game, but my "desire" to have this game isn't as high as it was for SSBB. Truth be told, there isn't even a lot to talk about this game right now, considering how early they've shown off these trailers and game play footage. I WILL say though that I've already got my 3 character team formation with just the characters that have been confirmed. What are they? Well... here they are and my reasons for picking them I guess. :P

1: Dante (Will probably be my lead character often)
Why him? 3 words. It's... freaking... DANTE! (Foul language to be found in that link. You have been warned) Enough said.
2: Felicia
Interesting story behind her actually. Before the announcement of Marvel VS Capcom 3, and after having heard about the "Darkstalkers" series, it was around this time that I eventually decided that maybe I should try getting the hang of (perhaps even mastering) a new character I've never heard before. Next thing I knew, I was looking up Darkstalkers characters for MUGEN (I know, I probably should have just gotten a Darkstalkers game or Marvel VS Capcom 2 eh?) and I wound up running across Felicia first. I said "A cat girl? Why not?" *Downloads Felicia* Lucky for me, I did my research, and I wound up getting the version of her that was CLOSEST to how she played out in the fighting games she was in. First thing I did was get to training with her upon putting her in the character list.
At first, I wasn't sure if I could ever get a full handle on her. I went "Meh" at first. I tried using her a couple of times just to get needed practice in for trying to get good as a character I didn't know much about. Later on, I find out that she's going to be in Marvel VS Capcom 3. So I decide to play as her some more, and at this point, I was getting pretty good as her, which made me start considering adding her to my 3 character line up. Turns out a lot of her attacks can quick link to her rolling attack, which in turn has MORE moves that you can throw at your opponent when you close the distance. The deal was sealed though when I started using her rolling attack as a defensive move against projectile attacks. (Doesn't work against all of course) At this point, I said "OK, yeah. I'm adding Felicia to my 3 character line up if I'm pulling off stunts like that with her now."
And then later on, I wound up watching the Japanese Anime of Darkstalkers, which pretty much told me 98% of everything I needed to know about Felicia's story anyway... which made me come to like her as a character. Felicia is also... by FAR... the skimpiest female character I have EVER seen in videogames. Is she even WEARING anything!?
3: Ryu
Do I really need to explain Ryu? ... ... alright, alright... Lets just say that because of how many fighting games this guy has been involved in, I've gotten pretty darn good as him. I'd say more, but I think that Wiki link will do Ryu justice. To top it off, anyone who's played Street Fighter and/or any crossover fighting game that has Ryu in it probably already recognizes Ryu's combat potential anyway.

New Characters I'm Considering:
1: Amaterasu
Ever since she's been revealed to be a playable character in the upcoming Marvel VS Capcom 3, I've taken a slight interest in her. I've never played the game she's from, but I've always wondered what it'd be like playing as a creature on all fours in a 2D fighting game. (Technically 2.5D since there's no sprites)
2: Deadpool
What can I say about a guy who thrives off of breaking the fourth wall?

There are other familiar characters involved that I'll play as every now and then as well like Captain America and Wolverine, but I'm not as experienced with these characters. I'm also not going to bother with covering anything else on Marvel VS Capcom 3, so without further delay, here's some game play videos for you guys to watch.

Marvel vs Capcom 3 Fight 7
MARVEL VS. CAPCOM 3 - E3 Gameplay 4
MARVEL VS. CAPCOM 3 - Comic-Con Thor Gameplay
MARVEL VS. CAPCOM 3 - Comic-Con Amaterasu Gameplay

You still with me? Alright, now for the next step. Games I'm looking forward to that AREN'T Nintendo games.

Halo: Reach
Gears of War 3

And uhh... that's pretty much it. I know there's another Assassin's Creed game coming out as well, but I'm not done with the second one yet. And in the time you guys have been waiting, I got 2 new games as well.

Starcraft 2: Been waiting to see how they'd improve the gameplay for Starcraft. I liked the original, but not to the point where I'd actually buy it. THIS one however... is just plain awesome. Serious improvements overall, including some necessary ones. (One of the problems I had with the original was "Why can I only select up to 12 units to command at once?") And yes, this game has online. You can find me by looking up the name "Nuke".

Castlevania: Harmony of Despair: This appeared as downloadable game for the X-Box 360. I'll say here and now that I've never been much of a Castlevania fan. I never thought I'd ever pick up a game of the series... until yesterday that is. Upon seeing that this title had co-op play to it, I HAD to pick it up. I don't get very many games that have co-op play to them, and I had the Microsoft Points to spend, so I decided... why the heck not? Somewhere along the way in one of the reviews, this was mentioned:

"The game is nigh impossible with one player"

I don't know... On my third try through the first chapter, I managed to beat the boss all by myself with WEAK equipment. First time through, I had NO idea what I was doing. Second time through, I wasn't prepared for how the boss fought. Third time through... I toppled it. And with nothing but weak equipment, as far as I'm concerned, that was quite a feat for someone who's never played a Castlevania game before. Want a quick tip to getting around the first boss? If you need to get past it, make use of the double jump when its head is low enough, and then use the "stomp" attack (it looks like an aerial kick going down) on top of the boss. You'll land minor damage on the boss and jump back up instead of getting damaged yourself. Repeat as necessary until you're fully across it. This is also a good way to get the 360 achievement "Grasshopper", since you need to jump on the heads of enemies a certain number of times without touching the ground. The boss, who has quite a bit of HP to work with, will work wonders for getting this achievement. Just keep stepping on it until that award pops up.

Considering this game has co-op to it, you can find me online by looking up "Trueblade Nuke" (which can be found in the gamertag section of my website that is still incomplete as of right now) on your X-Box 360 account. Don't worry. I'll let you in on the demon and vampire bashing. The game was MEANT for co-op play.

On a side note, this game was meant to have an arcade feel to it. So if you were expecting some major story to this game, prepare to be disappointed. Now with all that side, I expect crazy fans of Castlevania to run up to me and shout "OMG! You actually LIKED that piece of !#&@? Go play a REAL Castlevania game!"

... phew. That was a lot to talk about. Now go read the latest comic!

Message Update:  Thursday, July 15, 2010

*Ahem* Anyway, new comic... AND ALSO A NEW GAMER TIP FINALLY! Check it out in the "Game Tips" section below.

Message Update:  Sunday, July 4, 2010

Happy 4th of July folks! I got a 4th of July episode up just to celebrate it even. Regular episodes will come around again... eventually.

Message Update:  Saturday, July 3, 2010

I didn't cover it in the last news update simply because I didn't want to take up too much space. I'd like to go over all the awesome flash animations I've found throughout this year and the last.

... ... actually you know what? Just click here to be taken to my newsground profile. Most of the stuff I recommend is in found in my favorites. The ones I really recommend are Pokemon: Fated Battle, Pokemon: Fated Encounter (Battle sequal), Epic Fantasy Battle, Epic Fantasy Battle 2, and SUPER MARIO CROSSOVER! (I really like Super Mario Crossover)

Also, new episode, etc.

Message Update:  Tuesday, June 29, 2010

Sorry about the delay, but before you go view the latest episode, I've got a LOT to talk about here in this news post today.

The website has changed slightly. The "Art Gallery" has been cleaned up for the most part now, and a good few pictures that used to be there have been removed. It's still not finished though. Also, you'll notice that the tables for the news posts have ditched the fancy background stuff. I figure the web background with the fancy blue is enough, along with the title and menu stuff. I sat and stared long and hard at this website after about a few months later of completing it, and figured it was a bit TOO fancy. (Or maybe trying to hard) So... plain background for the general news and gamer tips. I also feel the need to point out that the website background in use was actually darkened before I got the new website up. I darkened it because I wanted the white letters (and other bright letters) to stand out more. If anyone thinks I should darken the background even more, feel free to shout it out, but it'll take some heavy persuasion on your parts to get me to do that. Hey, I LIKE the website the way it is right now.

With all that said, I now want to talk about E3 2010. I know I'm late to the party on this, but I really want to go over it anyway.

Want to know the surprising part of this E3? Nintendo stole the spotlight this year. Or maybe I should even go as far as saying that they DEMOLISHED the competition this year. Don't believe me? Check out all the stuff they have in development! I'm pleasantly surprised. Nintendo officially won my interest for this year. Last year, PS3 was my interest due to released information about Final Fantasy XIII. (Though Metroid: The Other M was shown as well) Let me get into the details about the things I'm looking forward to most from Nintendo.

Nintendo 3DS:

That's right. They have a NEW DS on the way. You can check all the specs here. It's also got an impressive line up this year as well. Here are the titles that stood out to me:

1: Kid Icarus: Uprising
Fans have been demanding for his return for 20+ years. Now, finally, after all those years... Pit... is... BACK! Judging by the looks of the gameplay, it looks like it's going to be a cross between Kingdom Hearts and Sin & Punishment... if you ask me. (More Kingdom Hearts me thinks) The game even comes complete with the Eggplant Wizard. AHH! KEEP THAT CURSE AWAY FROM ME! If I get my hands on the 3DS, this'll be my very first game for the system.

Other names that stood out to me but don't feel like going over are the new Paper Mario game (yay to returning to the classic Paper Mario style RPG), Star Fox 64 (Remake), Mario Kart, and Assassin's Creed: Lost Legacy.

Nintendo Wii:

Let us not forget that the Wii also has an impressive line up this year. Allow me to go over the ones that caught my interest:

1: Metroid: The Other M
This title was already announced back at the previous E3 last I checked, but they revealed a bit more this year. I still have to say that they're taking a rather interesting approach with this game. Not only are they keeping bits of Metroid Prime and going back to the Super Metroid days, but they also intend to throw out a backstory behind Samus... finally. She's even getting voice acting for this game! In other words, we'll be seeing what her "official" personality is like now. Somehow, I can make an accurate assumption as to what the attitude will be like... To top things off, this game will be out on August 31 this year! WHOO!

2: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Link is back yet again, and this time under full Wii Motion Plus controls. His game is set to appear sometime next year (2011) for now, so it'll be a LONG wait. Looks like they really did go out of their way to try and improve the sword combat in the game. It even looks like Link can now throw sword waves in 3D! The way you get to have Link use items in this game is pretty interesting too. In fact, some of the new items are rather... interesting in their own way. Also... is Link FINALLY wearing pants!?

3: GoldenEye 007
I don't believe it! They're actually REMAKING GoldenEye! GoldenEye was hands down one of the best First Person Shooters I've ever played back on the N64. (Second only to Perfect Dark, which got a remake for the X-Box 360 that's also enhanced with a bit more gameplay features... not just graphics) Now finally, after about 13 years, Bond is back for more... in GoldenEye. Sounds like they also have a lot of improved gameplay mechanics they have yet to show off to us, aside from all the improved graphics, voice acting, and what gameplay they already showed off. Finally, by the sounds of things, this game is coming out November this year.

4: Donkey Kong Country Returns
DK and Diddy are back in what feels like years since their last "Country" 2D style game. I really loved the "Donkey Kong Country" games back in the SNES days, and I also really enjoyed Donkey Kong 64. Now, finally, after several years, it looks like I'll finally be getting my hands on another DK game. The best part of this game? CO-OP! FREAKING CO-OP! The past DK Country games had co-op, but NOT LIKE THIS! Now BOTH players are in control at all times! This game is a must have for me. Also, it sounds like this game will appear sometime around Christmas.

Other mentioned titles for the Wii that didn't really spark me, but I think are worth mentioning anyway, are Kirby's Epic Yarn and Sonic Colors. Also, on a side note, did anyone else notice that it looks like "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" is getting a 3DS remake?

Bravo Nintendo. Bravo.

... now go read the new comic episode!

Happy Memorial Day guys.

Anyway, there's a lot of things to explain here, so I'll get started. First off, 3 games that I've wanted to play were on shelves today at Target, and I wound up getting all 3. Those 3 being Red Dead Redemption, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and Lost Planet 2. Oh and there's also the other games I got earlier before that, like Command & Conquer 4, Assassin's Creed 2, Star Ocean: The Last Hope, etc.

Star Ocean is your typical anime style RPG. It has quite a few similarities to the "Tales of" series. Yet, it's also different. The way battles go is a bit different from the "Tales of" series. There's no co-op multiplayer in battles like in the "Tales of" series for example. Chaining combos is different too. I'd have to say that my top favorite charcters in that particular game are Edge, Meracle, Reimi, and Arumat. That's not to say I didn't like all the characters, but those 4 were my top favorites. Why did I like them? Reimi is a long distance combo expert, making her skilled at keeping the enemies at bay and inflicting a lot of damage in the process. Edge... because he fights like a freaking Paladin! What's not to like about that? Seriously, you can't deny how useful it is to be able to cure conditions on your party members. Edge can do that, so that's one reason to keep him on front line duty. Meracle because of her cloths she's, perhaps ironically, the game's second most powerful party member that you could ever aquire, second only to Arumat. The downside to Meracle though is that many of her attacks have short reach, and can often be left wide open if one of her special techniques misses its mark. She also lacks maximum HP in comparasion to others like Edge and Baccus. She also doesn't know the meaning of curing others, so Meracle should be treated as an assault character. In order for Meracle to be your second most powerful fighter, she's much better off under human control, so don't be afraid to take command of the cat girl when necessary. And finally, there's Arumat. I must admit that there's a reason why he's known as the party's most powerful assault character. Not only does Arumat swing his scythe arond like it's nothing, but he inflicts massive damage in the process, and because of his weapon of choice, tends to have massive sweeping attacks that out right clears the field of enemies. You need to dish out damage? Bring out Arumat. On a side note, Meracle also tends to get Edge in trouble with Reimi... frequently. I can't help but laugh at some of her optional relationship scenes.

Oh dear, look at me going on about Star Ocean. I guess I like the game that much. Or is it merely because I have knowledge about the game now? Eh. Anyway Red Dead Redemption is also fun beyond words. It was made by the same people who made the Grand Theft Auto games, so yeah, expect this game to be mature. But have you ever wondered what it'd be like to have a sandbox free roam game of the wild west? Then try this game. Since words don't do this game justice to me, I recommend you just try this game when you get the chance... and assuming you're old enough to play such a game.

Finally, there's a new comic update, which gets into the tutorial brought up on last comics update.

I can't believe I forced you guys to wait for another comic update for about 2 months. >_>

Anyway, there's a lot to explain here. First off, my PS3 died on me 2 weeks of me playing FFXIII, which resulted in me losing all my PS3 data along with any PS2 data I made further progress on after shifting over to the PS3. (Lucky for me, I didn't lose much in terms of PS2 data at all thanks to holding on to my PS2 memory cards) Secondly, I had to gather a bunch of stuff for the episode I was making, along with finally deciding on what background to use. And lastly, the episode itself took longer to make than I thought it would. Frankly though, it was worth it all in the end, as I came up with a dang good punchline at the end.

So more or less, the mass majority of my time was spent re-gathering all my lost PS3 data. Sorry for the massive delay guys. I did, however, update the sprite comic index page with new buttons. They function like the ones on this page now, so you should have an easier time spotting what you need to click.

As I promised through the Mass Email to my forum members, I got another comic up before I got my copy of FFXIII. Now excuse me while my soul gets sucked away for awhile by the game.

Wouldn't you know it? The moment I decide to get the main story moving, THAT'S when my computer decided to die on me. Well... the motherboard of my previous computer died on me at least. I only had that computer for about a year and a half, and it's already dead. Let me tell you guys this from experience here and now. Never buy an Acer computer. So why did I get one you say? Because it was quite a deal for me when I needed a new computer at the time. I got a widescreen monitor, speakers, keyboard, mouse, and other things to go with the $700 I spent in total for the package. The only thing that got cut off was the graphics card, which sucked, and I had to replace it. Now I've got all this stuff in a WAY more reliable computer, rather than the Acer computer that died on me.

Due to all these events, I never got around to finishing the episode I started working on before the previous computer died. (Which I have now on this computer thanks to backing up my computer and such) As of today, I still have no new episode to present, but I did bring back the Forum Pictures section. Why? Because there are those who use it, and Google kept trying to direct people to that section of my website after it was taken down, making Google think that the place was infected with a virus. >_< So I put the section back up, and made an "Incomplete!" banner at the top. While I was at it, I put the same picture in the Gamertags section. Art Gallery is also up.

And after many months of the comic's main storyline being placed on hold while I planned the rest of Story Arcs 1 and 2 out, we're finally back on track! The main story of Mystic Legends is finally moving again. I'm finally starting to see an end to Chapter 5 of Season 1 here myself. It'll probably be awhile yet though.

Finally! After a grand bit of time finding myself lazing off during the construction of this website in favor of getting distracted by games like FF12 (Due to FF13 now only being about a month away now and the desire to finally finish FF12), Eternal Sonata, AND both Army of Two games, I found the will to finish the construction of the MEAT of the website. I'm sorry it took so long guys, but things are back up.

Do you honestly know how good it feels to finally have a better looking website? OK, so this may not be the best work ever, but it's definately better than it was earlier. There's all sorts of new stuff going on, and this website is hardly complete now. As I speak, only the main index, gamertag, contact, and sprite comic sections are up. Everything else is still down and under construction. But due to the fact that I'm now concentrating on my comics and character pose work again, those other sections will probably have to wait a good long time. Just keep looking in here in the General News section for those who want to know what's going on.

For those who wanted to have continued access to the Forum Pictures and Art Gallery sections, I'm sorry, but you're going to have to wait on that now. If I get enough requests to put up the old style Forum Pictures section again though, I may just do that. If so, I suggest you bring that in my forums. My E-mail gets clottered with important stuff typically... and advertisements from websites who are trying to get me to buy deals and such. :D

You'll also notice that I now have an affiliates section here. I decided to be a bit unique with my affiliates menu, and upon clicking each link (Excluding the "Resources & Others" section), you get a opinion based explanation from me about what I think of the comic series you wish to view outside of Mystic Legends. I also gave ratings of each one, for those who want a short general idea of what kind of audience I think the author was headed for based on the content I've seen in each series. I'm also trying the same idea with the "Other Forums" section, but they don't have ratings like the comic websites do. This is just a test idea from me, and if I somehow get hoards of complaints about this idea, I'll take down the opinion based pages (which do allow you to access the same website you wish to go to when you're on said page) and just link to each website instead. As for the adding of more affiliates, if it ever comes down to it that is, I'll probably be adding a page to this website that takes you to a pure affiliate page, filled with all the websites that I would recommend paying a visit to. By the way, I feel the need to mention that I made the 2 of the small advertisements that you see in the affiliates menu. Try and figure out which 2 they are.

Finally, I would like to point out that you guys are going to need a bigger screen width to view this website properly now. I tried to keep things sized down, but in the end, I just couldn't get it all to squeeze in the way I wanted without dismantling some of the work I had already put in. This is about as small as it gets.
